Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age specific components.
  • Coordinates care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction.
  • Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
  • Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Facilitates shift reports and warm hand-offs.
  • Develops and facilitates nurse-led psychoeducational groups.
  • Uses therapeutic communication techniques and practices de-escalation.
  • Actively participates in interdisciplinary treatment teams and environment of care rounds.
  • Documents nursing assessments, plans of care, safety observations, and rounds according to policy.
  • Maintains professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborates in development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures.
  • Provides constructive feedback for peers.
  • Fosters a safe environment for the professional development of healthcare professionals.
  • Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes.
  • Responsible for reported mental health outcomes at the program or service level.

Requirements

Experience: Mental health experience preferred

Education: Master's Degree in Nursing or related field

License & Certification:

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States.

Schedule:

  • Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • No compressed/flexible scheduling

COVID-19 Requirements: Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all VA Health Care Personnel.
