Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the Clinical Documentation team comprised of registered nurses and clinical documentation specialists.
- Manage the review processes of complex patients with acute and chronic disease states.
- Promote effective and efficient reviews of physician documentation supporting the patient's level of care.
- Develop action plans for improvement based on review findings.
- Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate the Compliant Documentation Management Program (CDMP).
- Manage case mix index (CMI), length of stay (LOS), severity of illness (SOI), and risk of mortality (ROM).
- Coordinate with the Director of Clinical Documentation Improvement and operational hospital departments.
- Manage Clinical Documentation Specialists in planning and implementing process improvements.
- Offer continuing education, process improvement, and change management.
- Participate in future planning and strategic development for system CDI needs.
- Maintain relationships that are respectful to all stakeholders.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Leadership and management skills in healthcare documentation
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local documentation guidelines
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Experience with processes, system implementations, and project management
Preferred Skills
- 1+ years of coding experience
- CCDS - Certified Cardiac Device Specialist
Requirements
Experience: 4+ years of Clinical Documentation Integrity experience
Education: Nursing Degree (RN, BS, BSN, or advanced degree) or Foreign Medical Graduate
License & Certification:
- Current FL Registered Nurse (RN) License or Compact State Licensure
- CANP – Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner OR Physician Assistant (PA) OR Physician (MD) with FL Licensure
