Job Responsibilities
- Performs direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
- Assists in providing high quality, cost-effective care by performing delegated tasks.
- Interacts with patients and families to ensure a family-centered experience.
- Assists in direct patient care by providing basic physical care to promote patient comfort as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Assists all assigned patients with activities of daily living in a timely manner.
- Safely transports patients according to Safe Patient Handling Policy.
- Transports specimens and items throughout the facility.
- Performs assigned tests such as glucose monitoring and maintains quality control testing & logs.
- Performs routine phlebotomy services in departments as determined by management.
- Obtains and records assigned patient vital signs and weights according to departmental policy.
- Provides respiratory support by setting up equipment for oxygen administration.
- Encourages the usage of Incentive Spirometer according to Respiratory Care procedures.
- Observes and reports all patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
- Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedures.
- Assists physicians and nurses with examinations and procedures.
- Assists with basic rehab/Physical Therapy activities.
- Communicates with RN regarding nutrition issues.
- Provides total care when assigned specific responsibilities.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment to prevent/control infections.
- Maintains unit equipment according to departmental procedures.
- Reports necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel.
- Assists in routine unit operations as directed.
- Courteously answers telephone and patient call bells.
- Relays accurate messages to appropriate persons.
- Completes errands as requested.
- Removes out-of-date items.

- Demonstrate competency in Safe Patient Handling equipment
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Good time management skills
Preferred Skills
- Prior patient care experience preferred
Requirements
Experience: Preferred experience in patient care.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
License & Certification:
- Certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire.
Schedule:
- 24 hours per week, night shift.
