Job Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise daily functions of the nursing staff in accordance with current rules and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance of nursing personnel with established policies and procedures.
  • Participate in updating and reviewing care plans.
  • Administer professional nursing services when needed.
  • Meet with nursing staff to discuss planning the shift’s services and monitor duty completion.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to maintain resident’s total regimen of care.
  • Manage quality and accuracy of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for residents and staff.
  • Manage unit based performance metrics reported by the facility (e.g., falls, re-hospitalizations).
  • Oversee quality of resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Participate in the orientation of new residents and family members.
  • Complete daily clinical and environmental rounds to evaluate resident care.
  • Address resident and family issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with healthcare practitioners to review treatment plans and orders.
  • Oversee completion of accident and incident reports involving residents.
  • Complete Recapitulations for Physician signature and report discrepancies.
  • Ensure adequate supply of medications, supplies, and equipment for resident care.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations.
  • Make recommendations to the Director of Nursing concerning employee discipline and transfers.

  • Ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions
  • Tactful communication with personnel and the public
  • Ability to work with ill, disabled, elderly, and potentially hostile individuals
  • Effective communication skills in English

Preferred Skills

  • Supervisory leadership experience
  • CPR certification

Requirements

Experience: At least 6 months experience as a nurse leader (direct or indirect care)

Education:

License & Certification:

  • Current, unencumbered RN license in Florida
