Job Responsibilities

Provide operational, clinical and leadership support to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality patient care across all perioperative phases.
Serve as the primary point of contact and leader during intraoperative care.
Fulfill circulating nurse duties during surgical procedures, including maintaining a sterile field, documenting case details, managing surgical supplies, and ensuring patient safety.
Act as a liaison between the surgical team and external departments to address immediate needs during cases.
Monitor intraoperative workflows, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, sterile techniques, and evidence-based practices.
Work closely with Pre-Op staff to ensure patients are properly prepared for surgery.
Partner with PACU staff to facilitate a smooth and safe transition of patients post-surgery.
Promote interdisciplinary communication among surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff.
Assist in managing daily operations, including staff assignments, case scheduling, and resource allocation.
Monitor and address staffing needs, coordinate shift coverage, and oversee onboarding and training of new employees.
Support and enforce compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Manage staff performance, including conducting performance evaluations, addressing disciplinary issues, and supporting staff engagement and retention initiatives.
Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and selection of new team members.
Address employee concerns and promote a positive, supportive work environment.
Follow up on incident reports, conduct investigations, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
Serve as a resource for risk management and regulatory compliance issues within the department.
Promote and lead quality improvement projects.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that supports teamwork and professional growth.
Assist with orientation, training, and continuing education programs.
Monitor quality metrics and implement improvements as needed.
Prepare and present reports on operational performance, staffing, and quality improvement efforts.
Represent the department in interdisciplinary meetings and committees as assigned.

Required Skills

Core Skills

Current Florida RN License
Leadership experience
Clinical nursing experience in Perioperative or surgical services

Preferred Skills

CNOR certification
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; master's degree in nursing or healthcare administration preferred

License & Certification:

Current Florida RN License
BLS certification
