Job Responsibilities

  • Provide operational, clinical and leadership support to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality patient care across all perioperative phases.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and leader during intraoperative care.
  • Fulfill circulating nurse duties during surgical procedures, including maintaining a sterile field, documenting case details, managing surgical supplies, and ensuring patient safety.
  • Act as a liaison between the surgical team and external departments to address immediate needs during cases.
  • Monitor intraoperative workflows, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, sterile techniques, and evidence-based practices.
  • Work closely with Pre-Op staff to ensure patients are properly prepared for surgery.
  • Partner with PACU staff to facilitate a smooth and safe transition of patients post-surgery.
  • Promote interdisciplinary communication among surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff.
  • Assist in managing daily operations, including staff assignments, case scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and address staffing needs, coordinate shift coverage, and oversee onboarding and training of new employees.
  • Support and enforce compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage staff performance, including conducting performance evaluations, addressing disciplinary issues, and supporting staff engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and selection of new team members.
  • Address employee concerns and promote a positive, supportive work environment.
  • Follow up on incident reports, conduct investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
  • Serve as a resource for risk management and regulatory compliance issues within the department.
  • Promote and lead quality improvement projects.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that supports teamwork and professional growth.
  • Assist with orientation, training, and continuing education programs.
  • Monitor quality metrics and implement improvements as needed.
  • Prepare and present reports on operational performance, staffing, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Represent the department in interdisciplinary meetings and committees as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Current Florida RN License
  • Leadership experience
  • Clinical nursing experience in Perioperative or surgical services

Preferred Skills

  • CNOR certification
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; master's degree in nursing or healthcare administration preferred

License & Certification:

  • Current Florida RN License
  • BLS certification
