Job Responsibilities

  • Provide service to patients in designated care settings, including acute, short and long-term care.
  • Assist physicians, assess patients, and treat injuries and ailments.
  • Obtain a thorough medical history from patients and perform examinations/assessments as necessary.
  • Analyze and interpret information from patients, medical records, and diagnostic data to establish appropriate diagnoses.
  • Coordinate care by rounding on patients when necessary.
  • Collaborate with providers to deliver patient care independently.
  • Formulate treatment plans and prescribe medications as legally authorized.
  • Maintain complete and detailed records of patients' health care plans and prognoses in a timely manner.
  • Consult with or refer patients to appropriate specialists when needed.
  • Provide patients with information to promote health, reduce risk factors, or prevent disease.
  • Counsel patients and family members about self-management on health issues.
  • Cover hospital consultations, rounding, and assist with patient procedures as necessary.
  • Conduct research into area of specialty to improve patient care and clinical outcomes.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practice guidelines into care.
  • Maintain knowledge of state legal regulations for advanced practice provider practices.

Requirements

Experience: Demonstrated current competence and provision of care for an adequate volume of patients in the past twelve months, or completion of master's/post-master's degree program in the past twelve months.

Education: Completion of a master's, postmaster's, or doctorate from a nurse practitioner program accredited by relevant institutions.

License & Certification:

  • Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice
  • Current DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances
  • Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Primary Care (CPNP-AC) or (PPCNP-BC) or Family NP - (NP-C) or (FNP-BC)
